"Walter Reuben, Inc.". 20150918. "The table-top terrestrial globe is actually dated from 1843-1845 and was made by John Cary, London. It is REMARKABLE as it shows the independent Republic of Texas and the results of the recently negotiated Oregon Treaty with Britain, whereby our country gained the Oregon Territory. This globe shows Texas with its northern boundaries extending up into present-day Colorado. It also shows Galveston as ""Galvestown."" It is extremely difficult to find globes dating from this brief period of the independent Republic of Texas. It is entirely possible that the Texas Navy might have used this globe.".
