"Among the 67 featured in the 2012 publication Born on the Island: The Galveston We Remember, which includes text by architectural historian Stephen Fox and a foreword by former Mayor of Galveston Lyda Ann Quinn Thomas. Eugene Aubry was born in Galveston in 1935. He graduated from Ball Hall High School in 1953 and went on to study architecture at the University of Houston. Commissioned to design such landmarks as Houston's Central Library, the Wortham Theater Center, and the Rothko Chapel, Aubry gained national acclaim during his 40-year career as an architect. (Image #31, appears on page 69)".
