PERMANENT COLLECTION. 20150918. "definitely deaccession The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in June, 1775, on Breed's Hill during the Siege of Boston early in the American Revolutionary War. Colonial troops fortified and defended Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill from the British forces. After two assaults, the British were repulsed with large casualties, but took the hill on the third assault. Though it was a British victory, they also suffered their greatest losses of the entire war. It demonstrated that the Colonial forces were able to combat trained forces.". Artist: J.
