This 5 story building, the tallest in Galveston until 1900, was built to house the ""Texas House"" of printer Robert Clark and stationer George Courts. The firm was established in 1879. In1893, Robert Hutchings bought the controlling interest and along with his brother Sealy, expanded its operations. Clarke and Courts closed its Galveston operations in 1989.
