Blackbeard was the most feared and infamous pirate of his day. In the early eighteenth century, the former British privateer trolled the shipping lanes of the Atlantic. From the deck of his flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, he commanded the seas. His flagship ran aground off the coast of North Carolina, and had to abandon her to the sea. 300 years later, a group of marine archaeologists have discovered the remains of the ship and their careful preservation and analysis of the remains are helping to solve the biggest mystery about Blackbeard's rein: did he run the ship aground on accident or was it a carefully laid plot to double cross his own men?
