Originally cataloged to highlight two articles, #1) Galveston by John Chapman (pp. 145-170) and, #2) Naturalists of the frontier: Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer by Samuel Wood Geiser (pp. 245-266); present catalogers have included a third, i.e., Los muertos no hablan by J. Frank Dobie.
Includes bibliographical references.
The limits of the physical world / John Daniel Boon -- Cities and towns of the southwest : IV. Galveston / John Chapman -- Silence (verse) / Lily Peter -- Western stuff / Stanley Vestal -- Los muertos no hablan / J. Frank Dobie -- Clay Allison / Maurice G. Fulton -- A provincial drama ritual / Samuel Asbury -- Quilts of the Ozarks / Kathryne Hail Travis -- Naturalists of the frontier : V. Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer / Samuel Wood Geiser.
John Chapman's article on the history of Galveston is not as flattering as many which have been written. The study of Ferdinand Lindheimer, the fifth in a series devoted to frontier naturalists, was written by Samuel Wood Geiser, professor of biology at SMU and a contributing editor of the Southwest review. J. Frank Dobie's Los muertos no hablan (Dead men do not talk) is a tale of thievery, betrayal, murder and searching for buried treasure.
